Training Course in Combating Art Trafficking

The Library, as the IFLA Preservation and Conservation Regional Center for Arab Countries and the Middle East, is offering a training course to help fight art trafficking. This event is part of the Himaya project; for more information on Himaya, click here.

This training session will include:

  • An introduction to the international and regional legal frameworks regarding the circulation of art and cultural goods
  • An overview of the due diligence to be observed by actors in the art and heritage world in order to limit the risks related to looted works of art
  • Case studies of art restitution to illustrate the issues related to art trafficking and the necessity of carrying out reliable due diligence.

The training will be provided by Sydney Chiche-Attali, an intellectual property and art lawyer in Paris. And moderated by Maxim Nasra, Book Conservation Specialist, Qatar National Library.

The event will be conducted online via VoiceBoxer. Participants will receive attendance certificates from the Library.
