Colophons of Arabic Christian Manuscripts

2020.11.4 16:00

Online via Microsoft Teams

In cooperation with the Beit Gazo Heritage Research and Conservation Center of the Churches of the Orient in Lebanon and in its role as the IFLA Preservation and Conservation Center for Arab Countries and the Middle East, the Library invites you to an online lecture highlighting the Beit Gazo Center's experience in studying and researching the most important Arabic Christian manuscripts in the Levant.

Colophons are a fundamental pillar of determining the historical and script details of manuscripts and whether they belong to a specific time and place. These colophons feature many important records of people, places, and historical and social events. Colophons mark the end of manuscripts in different ways based on people, cultures, places and affiliations.

The lecture will be presented by Father Youssef Dergham, Director, Beit Gazo Heritage Research and Conservation Center of the Churches of the Orient, Lebanon.

Moderated by Ikhlas Ahmed, Tours and Exhibitions Officer, Qatar National Library.

The event will be conducted online via Microsoft Teams.
