In celebration of the Arabic Manuscript Day, Mahmoud Zaki, Information Services Librarian (Manuscripts), will explore the physical and textual aspects of the Arabic manuscript tradition, based on the rich collection of the Heritage Library.
The talk also includes discussion of manuscript production in the Islamic World, the anatomy of the manuscript and types of texts beside the main text. You'll get introduced to terms and concepts, including intellectual heritage, codicology and textual criticism, and learn how to recognize the main components of a manuscript. You'll also hear about the many items and services of the Heritage Library.
