In this session, guest lecturer Dr. Abdul Razzaq Marzouk will discuss the notable manuscript Arrawdo Al-Unuf wal Mashra'i Arrawi, by Abu Al-Qassim Abdul-Rahman bin Abdillah Assohaili Al-Maligie (d. 581 AH/1185 CE), which was commented on by Al-Hafiz Moqlatay Al-Masry (d. 762 AH/1361 CE) in his book Al Zahro Al-Bassim [Smiling Rose].
The lecture will highlight the scholarly communication and cultural interaction between the two renowned books written by two renowned scholars, one one from the Al-Mashriq region and the other from Al-Magrib (west of the Islamic world).
Dr. Marzouk is Professor of Prophet's Biography and Islamic Studies, Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences, Cadi Ayyad University, Marrakesh, Morocco.
Moderated by Mahmoud Zaki, Manuscript Librarian, Qatar National Library.
This is the sixth in a series of lectures and talks providing readings of rare historical works from our Heritage Library's collection of manuscripts. The series is a great opportunity to explore the rich collection and its masterworks, along with the Heritage Library's digital and virtual services.
