Spring Tech Camp 2020

2020.3.15 10:00

User Services Desk and Digital Totems Area

The Library, in collaboration with Studio 5/6, an information and communications technology makerspace initiative by the Ministry of Transport and Communications, will host the first Spring Tech Camp in March. During the camp, participants will discover a variety of new technology skills and digital fabrication tools in an enjoyable and fun atmosphere. Participants registering for the workshops may attend either the morning or evening sessions, as per the age assigned for each workshop.

Workshops:

  • 3D Print Mini-City: Learn how digital fabrication tools such as the 3D printer can be applied in prototyping, design a 3D mini-city using Tinkercad and print it using a 3D printer.
  • Build VR Environment: Make a simple virtual reality game using Unity software and use block coding to create a series of virtual events.
  • IoT Health: Go through the engineering design process to design and build a heartbeat monitoring system using Arduino and the Internet of Things (IoT).
  • IoT Security: Develop a room security system that can be monitored and controlled using a smartphone app. Code an ultrasonic sensor to detect motions in a certain room and send an alarm to the owner by connecting the Arduino to the servers.
  • 3D Toys Scan: Use reverse engineering technology to scan an object with the 3D scanner, and fabricate it using a 3D printer.
  • DIY Vacuum Former: Build a machine that will to simulate the use of solar power in the desert and use the resulting vacuum to replicate useful everyday objects.
  • Physics With Arduino: Learn about electronic components such as Arduino, ultrasonic sensors and light sensors, and use the electronics to develop a device that can indicate the light intensity and distance from light sources.
  • Robotic Shoot: Build a simple robot that can rotate around an axis and take pictures with a phone.
  • Batter Tester: Build a battery tester circuit and learn how to program it to display the status of a battery using Arduino.
  • Traffic Light System: Use a microcontroller, LEDs and some wires to create a prototype traffic light system.
