SUMMARY:Combating Art Trafficking Part 2: Cultural Heritage Restitution
DESCRIPTION:The Library\, as the IFLA Preservation and Conservation Regional Center and in the framework of the Himaya project\, is organizing the second part of the training course in combating art trafficking. This session will focus on the restitution of art and cultural goods\, with a special focus on manuscripts and ancient books.\nThe training will include the following content:\n1. A presentation of the international and regional legal frameworks regarding the restitution of art and cultural goods.\n2. An overview of the historical and contextual background of art restitution cases.\n3. A description of the tools and rules used to determine if the purchaser of an artwork is in “good faith” at the time of its acquisition.\n4. Case studies of art restitution\, with particular attention paid to manuscripts and ancient books.\nThe training will be provided by Sydney Chiche-Attali\, an intellectual property and art lawyer in Paris. Participants will receive attendance certificates from the Library.\nThe event will be conducted online via Zoom. \nDate: 11 – 13 January 2021 \nTime: 4:00 – 6:00 PM \nLanguage: English and Arabic\nTarget Audience: Specialists in protecting documentary heritage\nSeats are limited\, please click the button below to register.
