SUMMARY:Preventing Photodegradation of Heritage Objects
DESCRIPTION:Light is an indispensable element in every place where works of art are shown\, and at the same time can be a significant threat to their durability. For proper protection of works of art and heritage objects from light-induced degradation\, it is necessary to understand its mechanisms and the role of all factors that affect it.\nModern science gives us ways to predict future changes in objects exposed to light. Understanding and implementing these methods is an important task for the collection managers and art conservators.\nIn this lecture\, Dr. hab. Tomasz Łojewski will introduce the photodegradation mechanism responsible for color fading\, discuss factors influencing its rate and present a method for predicting future changes in the color of objects exposed to light.\nDate: 18 June 2019\nTime: 4:00 – 5:30 PM\nLanguage: English\nTarget Audience: Library and museum staff\nSeats are limited\, please click the button below to register.
