DESCRIPTION:Dr. Alan Weber\, co-author of the comprehensive handbook E-learning in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA)\, uses an evidence-based educational policy approach to explore what e-learning can achieve for students\, teachers and national education systems. He uses the latest statistics from the International Telecommunications Union\, IMF and the World Bank to demonstrate the uneven development of computer-assisted learning technologies in the region\, with some countries achieving improved student learning outcomes and others struggling with connectivity\, broadband internet access and attitudinal barriers to electronic pedagogies. He will also review Qatar's recent innovations in this area.
