DESCRIPTION:To highlight and celebrate the Qatar-MENASA Year of Culture 2022\, Qatar National Library\, in partnership with Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art\, has organized an exhibition providing a window into the life and work of Baya Mahieddine. \nConsidered to be one of the most important Algerian artists of her time\, Baya’s artistic career spanned nearly six decades and was marked by the post-World War II period\, the Algerian War of Independence\, and the Algerian Civil War.\nDrawn from the collections of Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art\, Qatar National Library\, and private collections in Doha\, the exhibition showcases a selection of 18 works that are intertwined with Baya’s lifelong themes to reveal the fictional and nonfictional elements that continued to resonate throughout Baya’s work until the very end.\nDate: 3 December 2022 - 30 March 2023\nTime: During the Library's opening hours\nLanguage: Arabic and English \nTarget Audience: General public \nThis is an open event; RSVP is not required
