SUMMARY:The Heritage Library’s Archives and Documents Collection: from Creation to Research and Study Prospects
DESCRIPTION:This is an introductory lecture that comes within the framework of a series of seminars on the archival and document collections preserved in the Heritage Library at Qatar National Library.\nThe archival collections are numerous\, and the documents preserved in the Heritage Library are diverse; each of them has a history\, a path\, a theme\, a form\, and a structure that distinguishes it from others and makes it unique.\nDocuments are usually collected by their owners for personal purposes\, either to claim a right or to prove belonging\, building a history and establishing an entity for the individual and society. The same applies to documents issued by government and private institutions. The purpose and methods differ\, but the goals and objectives are the same: from preservation and secrecy\, evidence and publicity\, to the positioning and historical construction of one generation to another.\nIn this lecture\, Dr. Moez Al-Duraidi\, Senior Archives Specialist\, will present a rare collection of documents and letters preserved in Qatar National Library as individual copies for the first time. It is divided between private documents that reveal unique aspects of the life of the individual and the group\, and governmental documents. We will highlight the Heritage Library’s rich and diverse archive of documents\, including those made of paper\, parchment and wood. We will also showcase the collection of Arab newspapers and magazines that had been printed over a period of more than a century\, in addition to a collection of promotional movie posters.\nTime: 5:00 - 6:10 PM (Qatar time) = (GMT+3) \nLanguage: Arabic and English\nTarget Audience: Researchers and archivers   \nSeats are limited\, please click the button below to register.
