Seeing the lunar crescent is a mandatory requirement for determining the beginning of the Hijri months. The beginning and end of every Hijri month depend on the moon's orbit around the Earth. Every year, we have variation among Arab and Islamic countries in terms of determining the beginning or end of some Hijri months, especially Ramadan. Why does this variation occur? What are the scientific principles for observing the crescent? What are the factors that control the visibility of the crescent? We will learn the answer to these questions and many others in this online lecture, which is held in collaboration with the Qatar Calendar House and is presented by Dr. Besheer Marzouk via Microsoft Teams Platform.
