In its role as the IFLA Preservation and Conservation Regional Center, the Library, in cooperation with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), and the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, is organizing this virtual lecture to boost awareness and build capacity on the use of modern technologies and virtual reality to preserve heritage items and archaeological monuments in the Arab world by highlighting the role of these technologies in all fields, especially the field of heritage and archaeological monuments, and presenting pioneering global experiences.
As the process of heritage documentation is one of the first important measures in the heritage preservation and sustainability ecosystem, these technologies have contributed to supporting the field of preserving the heritage and archaeological monuments, changed many archaeological methods and their capabilities, and given new dimensions to understanding what was previously difficult to understand. The emergence of these technologies in the field of virtual reality and the development of 3D modeling software unlocked new potentials for people to interact with the display items and create more lively and attractive displays through the use of multiple tools.
