Join us in this interactive practical session that reflects the Library’s belief that the key to studying manuscripts is the ability to read correctly, understanding the basics of codicology and transcription methods. It is necessary, thus, to combine theoretical knowledge of scholarship literature with the actual reading of the manuscripts and skills of identifying their variant textual and material aspects and relations.
The session begins with a theoretical introduction and tips, followed by a participants' practical reading with Mr. Ahmed Mamdouh, a specialist in copying manuscripts and a reading trainer.
The event will be conducted online via Zoom, where participants can audio-interact in reading and discussion. The link to the event will be sent by email to participants prior its date. After the registration is closed, the event will still be live-streamed via the Library’s YouTube Channel.
