We are pleased to invite you to our exhibition "Letters of Faith: The Arabic Script in Indonesia" in the occasion of the Qatar- Indonesia Year of Culture 2023. The exhibition showcases Qatar National Library’s collection and those of prestigious Indonesian and local cultural institutions.
Indonesia stands out as one of the most culturally diverse countries, with a rich tapestry of ethnicities, languages and religions. It also has the largest Muslim population in the world.
Islam arrived by sea and was first adopted by the inhabitants of the trading routes in the late 13th century. The interplay between Islam and the Arabic language with the local cultures has created a rich Islamic heritage with the Arabic script an important symbol of the faith.
Discover this fascinating heritage through beautifully illuminated Qur’anic manuscripts and explore the ways in which the Arabic script has been used across different media. Take this rare opportunity to admire these cultural treasures that bind Indonesia and the Arab world in our shared appreciation of artistic and religious heritage.
Date: 1 November 2023 - 25 April 2024
Time: During the Library's Open Hours
The exhibition is open for everyone to visit without registration.
