Dr. Naif Al-Mutawa, is a Kuwaiti clinical psychologist, entrepreneur, and creator of The 99, a comic book series featuring superheroes inspired by Islamic culture and values.
In this presentation he will discuss how Hollywood has created characters based on a scientific approach. He will compare characters from history and fiction and examine how their stories follow similar arcs. He will also talk about how he created his own character universes and show how his global television series was made.
Dr. Al-Mutawa founded Teshkeel Comics in 2006 and launched The 99 series. The series has received international recognition, including praise from former U.S. President Barack Obama, who commended it for capturing the imagination of young people with its message of tolerance.
