Qatar National Library, as the IFLA MENA Regional Office, invites you to the "Librarians for Libraries" program, which aims to develop librarianship skills in the MENA region through virtual sessions covering a variety of topics.
This session, "Introduction to Metadata and the Dublin Core Schema," will address the growing interest in digital transformation projects across cultural institutions in the Arab world, with a focus on documenting, preserving, and managing Arabic materials more effectively.
Participants will be introduced to the concept and types of metadata, its workflow in the digital environment, and the Dublin Core schema—one of the most widely used metadata standards in digital repositories.
The workshop will also provide hands-on training using a web-based Dublin Core input template, equipping participants with the skills needed to describe and catalog various materials in accordance with this international standard.
Whether you are looking to enhance your technical knowledge or to apply practical tools in your library’s digital projects, this session offers valuable insights into how metadata can support digital transformation and improve access to Arabic knowledge resources.
Join us to discover how metadata can play a vital role in advancing digital initiatives and ensuring the preservation and accessibility of cultural heritage in the Arab world.
The event will be conducted online via Zoom.
