Qatar National Library is pleased to host Qatari artist Haifa Al Khuzai for a specialized workshop. The session begins with a brief introduction to the role of art in preserving cultural heritage for future generations, followed by a hands-on sculpting session using air-dry clay. Participants will explore various techniques and tools to create artistic pieces that reflect heritage and identity with a contemporary flair, set within an atmosphere that blends creativity, craftsmanship, and an appreciation for traditional arts.
Haifa Abbas Al-Khuzai is a renowned Qatari visual artist holding a Diploma in Fine Arts from France (1983) and a Bachelor's degree in Art Education from Qatar University. Since 1984, she has participated in numerous local and international exhibitions in France, the USA, Thailand, Iran, and Azerbaijan. She has held six solo exhibitions, notably "Naqda" (2021) and "Printmaking Engraving" (2010), establishing herself as a distinguished figure in contemporary ceramic art in Qatar.
Al-Khuzai initiated her artistic journey with realist and abstract painting before discovering ceramics as a medium more aligned with her vision. She chose this path for its malleability and capacity to embody elements of Qatari heritage in a contemporary expression. Through her practice, she reinterprets traditional symbols in a direct visual language that resonates with viewers while maintaining a profound connection to cultural identity.
