Qatar National Library offers you a rare opportunity to learn from Ajay Sharma, a Jaipuri master in Indo-Islamic miniature painting, about the preparation of natural stone pigments and the basics of the painting process. 
The event will begin with a discussion about miniatures with Islamic art specialist Dr. Jochen Sokoly, followed by a live demonstration from the artist.
The event is being held in collaboration with VCUarts Qatar and is part of the programming for the exhibition "From Material to Market: The Art of the Book in Morocco", running at QNL from 26 November 2024 to 26 April 2025. 

About the artist

Ajay Sharma is a traditional Indian miniature painter. He has more than 25 years' experience as a master in miniature arts and runs his own studio in Jaipur. His areas of practice and mastery include pigment making, in-depth analysis, research, preparation and practical applications for all restorative pigmentations and mediums including stone colors, natural vegetal pigments and extracts.
