This workshop will cover the entirety of the book proposal process, from identifying appropriate presses and editors for your project to obtaining proposal guidelines, communicating with editors and writing a strong proposal.
It will also address what you can and should expect from your relationship with your editor as well as the various timelines for the review process. You will also receive some guidance on what to do if your proposal is declined by your first-choice publisher.
The workshop will draw on materials from a number of books designed to help scholars write proposals and publish their first books and will also provide numerous examples of actual proposals from scholars whose books have won contracts from top university presses.
